My wife June and I had the honor and distinct pleasure of spending many a lunch and dinner with Jack and his most precious Eleanor at many IAPHC Conventions. His quick witted humor, her gracious style and their pleasant way and made them perfect travel companions for a good time. He will be missed by us and many more. I feel blessed to have known him.

Jack was a great Craftsman and always great to be around and chat with at our conferences and conventions. Jack was always ready to share his knowledge about the IAPHC and the printing industry with anyone who would listen. Jack and Eleanor would always spend time with me and my wife Karen at all of our get togethers. He would always give great hugs! We will miss his smile. Our sympathies go out to his family.

It was also my pleasure and privilege to know Jack. He was a true statesman of the IAPHC-The Graphic Professionals Resource Network. Long after his term as International President, his continued presence at Chapter, Regional and International events added a sense of dignity and eloquence to each event. With his wife Eleanor, they presided over 4 decades of Association meetings and were comfortable greeting long time members as well as the newest members to the Association. During my term as IAPHC Chairman, I appreciated Jack’s counsel and help. I am a better person having had the privilege to know him. My prayers go out to his family during this time.

It was an honour to know Jack for the past 20 plus years. He was one of the most genuinely kind gentle-men I have ever met. His love and care and concern for his beloved Eleanor, was a model that many commented on and learned from.

Jack was International President of the IAPHC, The Graphic Professionals Resource Network in 1975-1976. (He had earlier been president of the Toronto chapter of the IAPHC.) He and Eleanor made it an annual pilgimmage to attend the IAPHC convention, and each year when it was announced it was their 40th consecutive or 44th consecutive or ..... one could hear the sharp intake of breath as the convention attendees murmurred their amazement at the dedication of this charming couple of dedicated Craftsmen.

Jack liked to say they wanted to to attend 50 straight conventions, alas, circumstances stopped their remarkable streak at 47 straight conventions when they attended the IAPHC convention in Baltimore in 2007.

Jack was a Craftsmen member for a half century, continuing to pay his annual dues long after he was retired, as a statement of his affection for the group. His humour, his warmth and his dedication to family and friends in the IAPHC will make him dearly missed.

On behalf of the members of the IAPHC around the globe we wish Jack, God Speed.

Whenever Jack sent an e-mail, he inevitably closed with "Love, JvdK".  He will be missed!
